Class Descriptions

Mid-day Yoga

This one hour class is designed for those with a limited time at lunch, but looking for a well-balanced, rejuvenating series of breathwork, asanas and relaxation.

Hatha Yoga

An accessible and eclectic blend of different styles of Hatha yoga. Refreshing and invigorating, this class will enable you to experience the wisdom, strength and grace of your body through creative sequencing. You will be encouraged to move at your own pace as you explore movement linked to breath and creative variations. Modifications for beginners and options for advanced practitioners are provided throughout the class. Class ends with deep relaxation, completely letting the body release all tension and then Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) giving the body and mind the opportunity to fully soak up the benefits of the days practice. Hatha yoga brings balance, strength, and a sense of well-being.

Flow Yoga

This class moves – the pace is energetic yet comfortable as we move through sequences that build confident alignment. It begins with a Vinyasa Flow to improve flexibility and stamina in the body as well as to nourish the muscles with fresh blood creating warmth from the inside out. It then goes through strength building asanas to tone the body and improve all the functions of the internal systems. This flow approach has been likened to meditation in motion in which stillness is found within motion, ease within strength, and wisdom within action. Class ends by slowing the mind and body, coming to stillness in deep relaxation and meditation, enabling you to see the beauty of peace in the mind and to allow the spirit open up and illuminate. Open to all levels.

Gentle Yoga

Open to all levels and recommended for young and old, injured and athletic alike. This class focuses on slowing down the pace from our hectic week and rejuvenating the body and mind with fresh prana (life energy). We will explore basic yoga poses and how to connect them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness. The class opens with a centering session and takes time in Deerga Swaasam (Yogic Breath) to bring the heart rate down and nourish the body with oxygen. Therapeutic in nature, you will learn techniques to help you gain flexibility, while immersing yourself in a relaxing class that moves at a slower pace – allowing ample time to enjoy each pose. The class ends with an extra long Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) and then a meditation. This is a great class for all ages and stages.

Atmananda Sequence (self bliss)

A vinyasa flow of classic Hatha postures with a blend of Iyenagar and Ashtanga style yoga. A mixed level class, beginner and advanced students welcome.

Good Morning Yoga

Start your day with a gentle to moderate yoga practice that will awaken your body, calm your mind, lift your spirits and charge your day with positive energy! Appropriate for all ages and stages.

Restorative Yoga

Relax, Restore and Renew! Passive restorative poses created to relieve stress, induce profound relaxation and deep, gentle muscle release. Experience supportive postures that gently open the body to deep relaxation and healing. These classes are ideal for those going through stressful times, suffering from illness, injury or major life changes.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, incorporates physical asanas, breathing, mantra, and meditation to safely and effectively raise the kundalini energy. Kundalini energy is creative and lies dormant at the base of the spine. Through the ancient techniques and technology of kundalini yoga, this dormant energy is awakened and raised in an attempt to balance the chakras and experience a sense of enlightenment as well as physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Yogi Bhajan said, "Happiness is the birthright of every human being." The practice of kundalini yoga enables us to claim that birthright.

Yoga for Rejuvenation

A class open to students of all levels of yoga experience. In this energizing and rejuvenating class we'll focus on transformative postures connected around the breath. Through mindful awareness, and alignment integration and intuition, you will be directed and guided through asanas. The teacher looks for your potential and both challenges and nurtures you to embody your being with vitality and grace as you move with fluidity and ease as you tap into your inner strength.

Qigong

Qigong literally means energy work so the nature of Qigong is very elusive which makes it fun, relaxing & very empowering. There are many different types of Qigong, soft & hard styles. The softer/yin styles focus on healing the mind, body & spirit. While the harder/yang styles focus on strength, endurance & protection in a martial sense. Overall qigong focuses on using the powers of breath, intention, movement & visualization in combination to heal yourself & others. When using these techniques properly you are able to move, push, & circulate energy internally & externally! Qigong can be used in everyday life to bring more energy & awareness to everything that you do… martial arts, meditation, music, art, dance, cooking & everything else. If you can breathe & believe... you can do Qigong!

Basic meditation instructions are given as well as practices for bringing mindfulness into all aspects of daily life.

The Zen Buddhist tradition offers powerful techniques for cultivating mindfulness and understanding the nature of the True Self. In addition to being a profound support for spiritual growth, recent research reports a wide range of benefits for physical and psychological health. Please bring your own cushions.

Meditating as a group, reinforcing each other's efforts, we sit, walk, drink tea together, listen to talks on the Dharma and learn how to live our human, daily life in harmony with all...please join us!

Satsang

Originally an ancient eastern tradition but now practiced worldwide in many spiritual communities, "Satsang" is a Sanskrit term meaning: Keeping company of the wise; association with spiritually minded people. Satsang offers the opportunity to develop a strong and steady practice of meditation and interaction with kindred souls. A couple of times a week we get together to meditate, sing/chant mantras, and discuss a teaching from a Master.
