Shine On Yoga

Never in a million years did Maylen Dominguez imagine she would teach yoga. After graduating from Yale with a degree in Literature, Maylen moved to Los Angeles, which is where her yoga adventures began. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to study with many amazing yoga teachers, including Seane Corn, Erich Schiffmann, Shiva Rea, Bryan Kest, and Saul David Raye, with whom she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training. Maylen received her M.F.A. from the University of Southern California and has been writing ever since. She writes a blog about her daughter (www.sofiastories.com), teaches writing for the New York Film Academy, and is working on her first book. Maylen is passionate about meditation, yoga, and writing, and the way all three help to heal and enable one to live a life of peace and joy. Maylen is grateful that yoga and the teaching of yoga found her because she loves teaching. “When I see people leave a class feeling good, I think I’m the luckiest person in the world to have had the opportunity to be a small part of that.” Maylen’s classes infuse meditation, strong vinyasa flow (linking breath with movement), visualization, deep inner balancing, and, most important, guiding students to find where the poses will best work for their own bodies. “I deepened my practice after my daughter was born because I needed to cover ‘mind, body, spirit’ in the shortest amount of time. Yoga did this. It started out as a practical solution, and it has turned into a deep way to center, heal, and balance my life.”
